SAT(Scholastic Assessment Test)

SAT(Scholastic Assessment Test)

The SAT is a standardized test for undergraduate admissions that is widely used by universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, etc., and increasingly internationally. It assesses high school-level knowledge in two areas: mathematics and evidence-based reading and writing. Starting in 2024, the SAT will be offered digitally in two main sections: Reading/Writing and Mathematics.

The mathematical section of the SAT test for 70 minutes consists of 44 multiple multiple questions divided into two comparative modules. This section includes topics such as algebra, problem solving and data analysis, geometry and some topics such as trigonometry. The use of the calculator is permitted throughout the exam, and in some questions, students must enter their numerical answer.
The SAT test scoring is based on a scale of 400 to 1600, which is the sum of the scores of two parts. The math section has a maximum of 800 points and there is no fine for incorrect answers. The competitive score for top universities is usually over 1,400 and for high schools, the score is close to 1600.
SAT scores are one of the key factors for admission to US universities, receiving scholarships and even some non -US universities (many universities in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, etc., accept strong SAT grades as part of requests). High scores in mathematics can help strengthen academic requests in STEM. For example, a score above 750 in the math segment (of 800) is usually considered a great score. The SAT test is held worldwide several times a year. However, due to test constraints, this test is not held in Iran, and Iranian students usually travel to neighboring countries such as Türkiye or the UAE to take the test. Despite this challenge, SAT is still very popular with Iranian students looking for education abroad.
